Butt-shot in Mt. Hope

A young man was shot in the butt by a gun wielding assailant today on the corner of Camp Street and Abbott Street in the middle of the afternoon. Police swarmed the scene and a cameraman from a local TV station set up his camera to shoot footage of the aftermath.

From the word on the street, as told to the police, the assailant, whose face was half covered with either a cloth or a bandanna covering his face below the eyes shot the victim and then ran away up Larch Street.

When I arrived on the scene I observed District 8's Lt. Schiavuli, several Detectives, Police brass, and an ambulance in the process of picking up the victim. I was told by bystanders that after being shot the victim ran to the District 8 Sub-station which is only a half block away from the crime scene. A Mt. Hope crime Watch sign looks down on the crime scene from a pole across the street.

From various bystanders I heard that the shooting was the result of the drug trade in the open air drug market in Mt. Hope and that it is a product of the East Side Boyz gang and the South Side gang feud.

Just another day in Mt. Hope, where the City of Providence refuses to prevent drug dealing criminals from ruining the quality of life for all law abiding Mt. Hope residents.

How long before an innocent victim gets caught in the crossfire. The blood will be on the hands of Councilman Jackson and Mayor Cicilline: enablers extraordinaire.
